If you are a Boston Borough business that does not have a business rates liability and has been mandated to close during the National Lockdown, and have been heavily impacted as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown from 5 November to 2 December, and have not been able to get support through the Local Restrictions Grant scheme, you can apply for the Additional Restrictions Grant (Closed).
The grant will be open to applicants from the Tuesday 15th December and will close at 5pm on 31st December 2020.
Whilst applications are welcome from all businesses, the council will prioritise the following types of businesses for grants: –
- small businesses in shared spaces that don’t have a separate business rates account
- regular market traders with fixed property costs
- the self-employed who rent a space in a property that is registered for business rates (for example: a hairdresser renting a chair) or
- overnight accommodation providers.
Businesses are required to submit evidence in order to verify their eligibility and to support their case for funding.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible, with an aim to make payments within 10 working days of a successful application. There may be a delay over the Christmas period.

Councillor Jonathan Noble, Portfolio Holder for Finance at Boston Borough Council, said: “I am pleased we’ve been able to open the application process for the latest round of Government grants. I am sure it will be very much welcomed by our local businesses that have been significantly impacted by the Pandemic.”
