The annual rough sleeping count took place early hours of Friday morning, 20 November 2020. This was to check on the safety and numbers of those who may be sleeping rough and report these back to government.
The group was led by Cllr Martin Griggs, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Communities who said: “We remain committed to supporting and assisting everyone who wishes to work with us to move away from the streets.
“Our rough sleeper numbers are just a third of what they were a year ago with many of those who had previously spent time on the streets now accommodated either in emergency or their own rented accommodation.
“We will continue to investigate every option to ensure that no-one in Boston has the need to sleep rough on the streets, especially now that the weather is becoming colder.
“I would also like to thank those members of the rough sleeping project team and the local Police who attended from 3am on Friday morning to support us ”.
There is a designated rough sleeping project team alongside Boston Borough Council’s own housing and homelessness team. You can report any instances of rough sleeping by calling 0808 281 0280, emailing streetoutreach@p3charity.org or info@boston.gov.uk or by calling the main council line on 01205 314200.
