We are delighted to report that following the successful conclusion to the last Exchange, the 2020/2021 educational exchange programme is now up and running.
Following a well subscribed recruitment and interview process, fifteen Year 8 and 9 aged students have been recruited from Boys Grammar, Girls High School, Giles Academy and Horncastle QEGS to represent the Boston region and UK. Along with the Parents and Committee, the 11 female and 4 male students look forward to welcoming the next group from Japan in July 2020.
The Group have already been busy fundraising following a successful Quiz Night and Race Night held at the Conservative Club in the last month. The Hakusan City Exhange team would like to take the opportunity to thank a number of local businesses and affiliations that have already so kindly supported us, including Hutsons, Boston Sausage, TB Howsam, Slimming World, Lincs Veterinary Solutions, Dexter Sharpe, Phoenix IT Solutions and HG Tunnard.
They would also also like to sincerely thank Norman Wakefield and members of Franklin Lodge No 838 for their £500 donation. Pictured receiving the donation cheque from Norman and fellow member David Scoot (second and third from the left) is Clare Atkin-Palmer and Steve Jacobs, Co-Chairs for the Boston and Hakusan City educational exchange programme.
We look forward to updating you on progress of the 2020/2021 Exchange and of future fundraising events and activities during the next 20 months. If as a local resident or business you would like to provide sponsorship, be involved in future events or to find out more regarding the programme please feel free to contact us at the following email address: japanbostonexchange@hotmail.com
There is currently a Japan Exhibition taking place in Lincolnshire at The Usher Gallery. The exhibition includes other work from Giles Academy and an art group based at the gallery.
