We’re looking forward to welcoming residents into their new homes in Boston next month – we’re handing over the 25 homes in Swineshead Road, Boston, near B&Q, in February.

The development – made up of affordable homes for rent – has been made possible by funding from Homes England, Recycled Capital Grant Funding, Group funds as well as a capital contribution from Boston Borough Council.

Jessica Thomas, Project Manager at Platform Housing Group explained: “We are really looking forward to finalising the development in Swineshead Road; there has been an unprecedented growth in Boston’s population which has brought about an increased demand for affordable housing. Being able to meet this need is crucial for the local communities in which we operate.”

The scheme – which began in September 2019 – is on a former poultry farm site.

Those involved in the new development – which cost a total of £3,633,457.00 – included the developer R G Carter, Boston Borough Council, employer’s agent Abode Consultancy and architect Core Architects.

Councillor Martin Griggs, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Communities said: “We are delighted to see that the development on Swineshead Road is near completion; once again, partnership working on this scheme to regenerate the site and deliver homes for local people following increased demand for affordable housing is a huge achievement.

“These homes are the first new social rented properties to be completed in the borough for many years. Boston is one of a few areas where Homes England is able to provide the additional funding necessary to develop them.

“The whole team has worked very hard to ensure this development has kept on track for completion whilst following strict policies on social distancing and hygiene in light of the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak.”

Jessica concluded: “We have a long standing relationship with Boston Borough Council, who actively support the development of new and affordable homes in the district. The council is committed to ensuring schemes such as this one are built by providing capital funding towards the development costs.”
