The Mayor and Mayoress attend ground-break at My Lockup situated on the Boardsides in Boston to commemorate new building works.
Kevin Doyle, an investor from Yorkshire, started My Lockup in 2008 and expanded to Boston in 2018. The self-storage business provides private storage rooms that are protected by CCTV with monitored alarms and a modern security system which allows access to customers through a programmed ID fob.
In 2019, planning permission was granted to build a two-story storage facility equipped with an elevator and rolling doors on the land at the side of the current building. The works are due to begin from next week and will take an estimate of 30 weeks to complete.
Once completed, the building will be able to hold 150 to 200 lockers, depending on the demand for size by customers and may create a full-time and part-time position at the Boston facility.
Kevin Doyle is passionate about investing in small local towns and is using H.H Adkins to complete the building works.
The Mayor celebrated the start of the works by turning over the soil with an orange shovel, matching that of My Lockup’s logo and Kevin’s bright suit. The Mayor of Boston said, “It was an honour to commemorate the new building works at My Lockup Boston and it is great to see money being spent in the local community and new jobs being created.”
Kevin Doyle, Managing Director of Mylockup.com commented, “It is a proud moment for myself and our staff to see the next phase of our expansion begin today. This will enable us to offer an even better facility to our present and future customers in the Boston area. Our thanks go to the Mayor and Councillor Paul Skinner, who have been proactive in making this come to fruition. As always, we try to use local contractors and are pleased to have awarded this contract to H and H Adkins of Boston. We aim to be the leading self-storage supplier to the town Boston for many years to come.”
After the new build is ready to open, Kevin hopes to return the current storage facility back to a showroom to rent or sell, whilst running the business primarily from the new facility with the help of the branch manager Derek Overton.
