It’s that time of year again, the Big Boston Clean Up 2020 is nearly here! Join in and help to make a difference to our town.
Come along to the 13th annual big clean up, from Monday 6th April to Thursday 9th April. You can volunteer to join us for the whole four days, one day or even just half a day – whatever you can do would be a great help.
It’s a chance to help spring clean the town, as well as to have some fun with a friendly group of people. A free lunch will be available along with various tea and biscuit breaks throughout the day.
439 volunteers took part last year! Everyone is welcome but anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. We will be meeting at the Municipal Buildings at 9am each day. You can find the pledge form here https://bit.ly/2V7TzPO, sign up on our Facebook event https://bit.ly/38K9QhI or get a paper copy of the form from the Municipal Buildings.
Primary Schools will once again be taking part in their own initiative – the Big Schools Clean Up, leading up to the Easter break.
Jen Moore the organiser of this event said: “The annual Big Boston Clean Up is back again, for its 13th year and we are so grateful for all that the volunteers do to help keep the town clean and tidy; we have noticed a significant reduction in the amount of litter to collect each year and are hopeful this will continue.
“These four days help to make a big difference to our town, it impacts highly on the town’s appearance and helps to make our environment cleaner for everyone. It also provides the opportunity to raise even more awareness of the issues of littering and other environmental crimes.
“This is also a great opportunity for people to make friends and have fun while making a difference, with some volunteers asking to keep their equipment and signing up as litter champions so they can go out in their spare time and litter pick in their local neighbourhoods. We now have 261 litter champions.”
