The Mayor of Boston, Cllr Anton Dani, praised the borough’s Community Litter Champions when he invited them into the council chamber for afternoon tea.  He thanked the volunteers for all they do in helping to keep all areas of the borough clean and tidy at all times of the year.

The Mayor and Head of Operational Services Christian Allen and other members of the operations team, chatted with the litter champions as they enjoyed traditional afternoon tea and cakes.

Jen Moore, Boston Borough Council’s environment supervisor, said: “The number of community champions has now grown to 253, with each and every one of them helping us clean up our town and keep it tidy, they report other issues for council staff to deal with.

“Their efforts have also played a key role in Boston gaining gold awards in the past few years of the Britain-in-Bloom competitions.”

St Georges Prep School in Boston posted on their social media pages “We were delighted to be invited to a Community Champions celebration with the Mayor today. Our Little Dragons staff and school Eco-Leader attended the event to recognise their efforts in caring for our local environment.”
