Anti-Social Behaviour

Anti-social behaviour is defined as conduct that has caused, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person.

It covers many types of behaviour that vary in nature and severity, many of which are open to interpretation. Thus what is considered anti-social by one person can be acceptable to another.

What we can do

We have Anti-Social Behaviour Officers who are able to provide advice and support, they work with partners including the police to find solutions to local issues.

What you can do

If you are experiencing problems with anti-social behaviour you can report this to Boston Borough Council in a number of ways:

If you want to report a non-urgent incident to Lincolnshire Police, you can call their non-emergency number 101, or complete an online reporting form.  Visit their contact us page for further details.

What kind of behaviour is not covered?

The law on anti-social behaviour doesn’t cover all kinds of behaviour. It’s important to realise that, just because you don’t like someone or you don’t agree with the way they behave, this doesn’t necessarily mean they are behaving anti-socially. For example:

  • Complaints about children playing in gardens
  • Parking and driveway issues
  • Boundary disputes
  • Hedges
  • Owner occupier neighbours civil disputes that should be dealt with by solicitors

The Good Neighbour leaflet contains information on how to get along with those you live close to and can help to prevent problems occurring

Alternatively, you could approach the Citizens Advice Bureau for help with your query.
