Boston Borough Council has announced that the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG), aimed at supporting businesses who have had to close due to the current national lockdown, is now open for applications.

The grant has been made available by Government to businesses, which pay business rates that are required by law to close due to the current restrictions. The council are urging businesses to ensure they are eligible before making an application to the fund which can be done on the Government’s website www.gov.uk/guidance/check-if-your-business-is-eligible-for-a-coronavirus-grant-due-to-national-restrictions-for-closed-businesses

Those businesses eligible for the grant will receive the following amounts, based upon their businesses rateable value:

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15k or under, grants to be £1,334 per four weeks;
  • For properties with a rateable value of between £15k-£51k grants to be £2,000 per four weeks;
  • For properties with a rateable value of £51k or over grants to be £3,000 per four weeks.

The application form is available at www.mybostonuk.com/local-restrictions-support-grant/; to apply eligible businesses will need to have their business rates account number and property reference number. A confirmation email will then be sent with payments following no later than 10 working days after the application has been submitted.

Businesses who are not in the Business Rates system or have not been forced by law to close will not be eligible for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) scheme.

Councillor Jonathan Noble, Portfolio Holder for Financial Services said: “Businesses are under enormous strain as it is, so it’s very important to us that the application system is straightforward and businesses know from the outset if they qualify or not.”

“We have been allocated funding from the government to support eligible businesses who have been told they must close, or who are only allowed to offer take-away, delivery or click and collect services, because of the latest coronavirus lockdown.”
