Despite Boston being an area of low income it has the lowest uptake in the county for free school meals.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are provided with a hot meal as part of the Government’s universal infant free school meal programme. No additional qualifications are required.

Some children may be eligible for free school meals from Year 3 onwards as well, if their families are in receipt of certain benefits. Parents and children could be missing out by not taking advantage of free hot school lunches. Healthy eating is vital to children’s learning and wellbeing and eating well has been shown to help maintain concentration levels and aid learning.
