As part of the background work for the Future High Street Fund submission, it was clear that High Street technology is an area that requires investigation and options to be considered to encourage consumers to use the High Street in different ways to increase visits.
Work has been undertaken on an application that would promote responsibility for retailers to take action by signing up to new technology and provide a solution to the need for technology within town centres to start to meet the consumer’s expectation for digital interaction.
There is regular interaction with the retail community and officers will continue to explore different options and alternatives before a final solution can be recommended.
