Apply for Social Housing

Applying for social housing in Boston

Following the Alliance between Boston Borough Council and East Lindsey District Council, we have developed a joint Housing Register system and Housing Allocations policy for both authorities. This means there is only one online application to complete for one or both areas. Qualification and banding for each authority may differ dependent upon the applicant’s local connection.

You should view the updated joint BBC ELDC Housing Allocation Scheme 2021 to check qualification criteria prior to applying.

You can APPLY HERE to be considered for inclusion on the housing register. A guide for using the new portal as well as Frequently Asked Questions are available below in related documents.

There are no set ‘bidding cycle’ days when properties will be advertised. Adverts will be added any day Monday to Friday as and when they come up and will run for a minimum of four days. Therefore we would advise all applicants to check the system twice-a-week to ensure you do not miss out on properties advertised.

Applicants will not be able to start bidding for properties until all document proofs have been received then verified by the housing register team. Applicants have 28 days after making an application in order to submit all required documentation.

If you are a current Housing Association or Council tenant looking to move property or area, you may wish to look into a mutual exchange through websites such as HomeSwapper but you should speak to your housing provider for advice first.

Platform Housing Group may have some properties available in different areas where you can apply for them direct.

Please note the Housing Register team are only available for telephone queries Monday to Friday 9am-12pm. You will be notified via the customer portal once your application has been assessed.

Affordable Home Ownership

If you are interested in getting onto the property ladder, there are a number of government home ownership schemes available. Details can be found on the Help to Buy website

Boston Borough Council is supporting the Early Delivery Programme for First Homes. This is a new government-backed affordable housing scheme which provides new homes at a discount – currently 30% – for First Time buyers with a household income of less than £80,000.  Applications are made direct to the Housing Developer. For information on where First Homes will be available, see the Current Developments page.  More sites will be available from 2023.
