Mayors Sunday – 7th August 2022

Over 250 people attended Mayor’s Sunday which was held in Boston Stump on Sunday 7th August 2022. Many local organisations were represented, as well as several civic dignitaries from neighbouring councils. The guest of honour was Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, Mr Toby Dennis and he was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Sarah Dennis.

Cllr Anne Dorrian said, “My aim this year has been to make the Mayoralty welcoming and inclusive because the Office of Mayor actually belongs to the people of Boston and I continually strive to make that point. I was absolutely delighted that the majority of the congregation was made up of local residents and I was thrilled that they came along to celebrate this long-held tradition. The service itself was joyful, with a strong emphasis on the theme of love, and several folk mentioned to me how much they enjoyed it all, even though they hadn’t been to Church for many years.”

“It was important to me that our children felt welcome too and they were all extremely well-behaved throughout. As a special treat, they were able to do crafts during the service and then afterwards, they could try out some circus skills.”

“Skinner’s ice cream van was a huge hit with the crowd! With the weather being so lovely and warm it ensured that young and old alike were able to enjoy a ‘99’ in the sunshine.”
