PE21 Town Centre Regeneration

The PE21 consultation has now closed. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the consultation process and those who were fortunate enough to attended one of the many local exhibition events.

We are now in the planned pause element of the project to reflect and consider all the consultation comments and conversations that will inform the next stage of the PE21 project. Most of the comments were about proposed relocation of the bus and coach stations and the location of the new transport hub, the reduction in car parking, and the relocation of the Len Medlock Voluntary Centre. These helpful observations will now be considered to see if there are changes that can be incorporated into the vision.

This pause also gives us the opportunity to look at the phasing of the project and the orientation of buildings to accommodate the best possible outcomes for existing users.

During the consultation period we received the fantastic news that Boston is one of 100 towns given the opportunity by Government, through the £3.6bn Towns Fund to bid for up to £25 million Town Deal funding. This is a significant investment to facilitate future economic growth focusing on regeneration, improved transport, better broadband connectivity, skills and culture.

To enable access to the Towns Fund, a Town Deal Board is required to develop a well-evidenced Town Investment Plan, which sets out a clear understanding of the area, focusing on its assets, opportunities and challenges. To maximise the investment opportunity of the Town Investment Plan, we are looking to submit the PE21 under the Urban Regeneration theme which is around increasing density in town centres; strengthening local economic assets, site acquisition.
