Lunch with entertainment from Lincoln Ukulele Band, games and a raffle will help raise funds for the continued maintenance of the Lincolnshire Road Victims Memorial Garden in Boston’s Westgate Wood.

The fundraising event is to be held from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday, September 8, at the Epic Centre at the Lincolnshire Showground. Tickets, £20, are available by calling 01205 367892.

The Lincolnshire Road Victims Memorial project was launched in March 2016 and developed a woodland walkway within Westgate Woods incorporating a weather proof memorial to enable family and friends of road death victims to have a place of quiet reflection and remembrance. The memorial was opened by patron Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Princess Diana’s sister last April. Since then an all-weather shelter has been built at the site.

More than £50, 000 was raised by a committee led by Anne Bourne, of Boston, whose daughter was one of  four killed in a road crash.

Flashback to the memorial garden opening in April 2018, signalled by the release of doves.
