More than 300 locals dressed in the familiar red robes, some also had the white hair and beard, to take part in a run, jog, walk just for the fun of it. A warm up in Central Park before setting off on the just short of 5k route ending in Boston Market Place.
The run was organised jointly with the Borough Events Team and Sarah from Boston Community Runners, who started this element of the event as a Boston Town Area Committee event volunteer.
The “high spirits” of Santa’s brought extra joy for visitors to the festive market organised by Boston Borough Council, with a selection of stalls in the Market Place and Pescod Square hosted a small market and Santa’s Grotto.
Boston Motorcycle Riders made their annual stop in the Market Place whilst doing the Annual Toy Run to the Pilgrim Hospital.
There was live entertainment from Sarah Lowe and Steve Walters on the stage hosted by Endeavour FM.
The Santa Fun Run was sponsored by Jakemans Confectionery, South Lincs Foodservice, Total Sports & Supplements, Turnbulls and County Linx Radio. The goodie bag sponsor was Mason Brothers Transport. Vicki Holmes from V-Fitness took all Santa’s through their warm-up routines to get them ready.
Kristina Willoughby, event’s organiser for Boston Borough Council, said: “Another great day where we have worked with the local groups in the Town and delivered a great community event. I must say thank you to Sarah from Boston Community Runners who works hard to deliver the Fun Run elements and the Boston Motorcycle Club for the Annual Toy Run. The support that we got from Boston’s residents and visitors on Sunday was fantastic. There was lots of entertainment in the Market Place for everyone, even for those who didn’t fancy dressing up and having a run. Thanks to everyone who came and supported our local Festive Market for 2019.”
